On June 15th we finished packing and tarping the sileage pit, and approximately 4 weeks later we rowed our last bale of hay and officially concluded our first cutting of 2017. June and July were marked by hot days and afternoon thunderstorms that brought just enough rain to delay the haying process. Seems as though it took forever to wrap things up, but we were blessed with high yields and a good crew. It didn’t take long after clearing the last bale from the field for dad to turn water into the ditch and pour the coals to the pivots for second cutting.
