Our Cattle

Straight Line 1 breeding since 1947

Cooper Hereford Ranch was founded over 70 years ago and built upon the belief that by maintaining a strong performance line breeding program we could improve the gaining ability and feeding efficiency of our cattle. In the years since purchasing our first Line 1 foundation stock, we’ve worked very hard to improve our herd to meet the current demands of our customers and the beef industry at large. As a charter member of the Montana Beef Performance Association, our cattle reflect the outcome of over 60 years of performance testing and selecting for traits we feel will keep our customers satisfied and in business. We cull our cattle rigorously, focusing largely on maternal traits as well as calving ease, performance, and carcass. Our management places little emphasis on growing larger in scale, but rather on producing a better product each year.
